Florida is a great place to raise a family. The warm weather is great for outside activities, and sports such as swimming, baseball and soccer are played year round, keeping kids healthy and fit. Housing is affordable, and finding a good home in a safe neighborhood is a breeze. Most schools are well funded and well staffed, with excellent facilities. But what Floridian cities are best to raise your family in? Should you choose a small, rural community or a large metropolitan one? Let’s find out!

What makes a city good for child-rearing?

There are a lot of things that you have to keep in mind when looking for a good place to raise your family. The first thing you have to think of is safety. After all, what is more important than the safety of the people you love the most? Luckily, Florida’s crime rates have decreased drastically in the past years, and certain cities have crime rates well below the national average! The most important thing you have to take into account when gauging the safety of a town is the crime rate. Some towns in Florida have higher crime rates than others, but the ones on this list all have exceptionally low crime rates.

Another important thing to keep in mind, as mentioned previously, is education. Of course, the first thing to keep in mind is grade school. The cities on this list all have excellent schools with highly paid staff and modern, cutting edge facilities. One thing that might not immediately come to mind, however, is higher education.

Luckily, when your kids reach that age, they’ll have plenty of options when it comes to universities they can attend without moving too far from home. Florida has many specialty and general universities, such as Embry Riddle, University of Florida and Florida Tech, which are among the top universities in the US!

Then, of course, you have to find somewhere to live. After all, you can’t raise a family without a house, right? Luckily, the cities on this list all have excellent housing markets, with low housing costs and good value retention over time. Additionally, the suburban neighborhoods of these cities are among some of the nicest in the US!

So, without further ado, let’s look at what towns are best to raise a family in Florida (from our perspective, of course!)

The city of Punta Gorda, Florida

Punta Gorda is a beautiful sunny beach town in south Florida, on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico. The most prominent feature of this town that makes it so great for raising kids is its exceptionally low crime rate! Punta Gorda is actually one of the safest cities in Florida, with just a little bit over one violent crime per ten thousand residents per year. This makes it a great place to raise your kids, as they are statistically safer here than almost anywhere else in Florida!

Another reason Punta Gorda is such a great place to raise your family is the low price and ready availability of real estate. The average home price in Punta Gorda is around 240,000 thousand dollars, and real estate holds its value well over time. Use The Official Real Estate Agent Directory® to find good real estate agents in Punta Gorda FL to help you with the process.

Punta Gorda also has excellent schools, with great facilities and well paid teachers. Once your kids have finished grade school, the accredited Southern Technical College is a stone’s throw away in Port Charlotte.

The city of Orlando Florida

Ah, Orlando; the vacation paradise that people come from all over the world to experience. But did you know you can live here? Picture this: it’s a sunny Saturday afternoon. Work ends at 5 o’clock on Friday, so you have two days to relax and have fun. You load the kids in the car and drive off to one of Disney’s theme parks. Once you get to the parks, you’ll spend the day experiencing the magic and wonder that draw so many families here every year, as you ride the rides and see the sights that Disney has to offer. But what if I told you that you could do this every weekend?

Now, you may be saying “of course that sounds great, but tickets are expensive. We could never afford that!” Well, guess again! Disney World, Universal Studios, Busch Gardens and many more actually offer season passes or annual passes to their parks, that allow you to have unlimited fun in their parks as often as you want.

This isn’t the only thing Orlando has to offer, of course; Orlando real estate agents will argue that housing market is hotter than fresh biscuits, and real estate gains value at unbelievable rates. Orlando also has some of the best schools in the state, with almost every district receiving excellent funding.

So why not move to Orlando? If you are interested in moving to the area, you’ll need to find a good Orlando real estate agent. They’ll help you find the best deals on housing, and find the one that is right for you!

The city of Clermont Florida

What if you like the hustle and bustle and vacation appeal of Orlando, but don’t want to deal with the crowds, the noise, and the traffic? Take a quick look a Clermont! Clermont is close to Orlando, but keeps a warm, small-town feeling very unlike the big city atmosphere of its larger neighbor.

Clermont has beautiful suburbs and luscious nature scenery, with quiet suburban neighborhoods and beautiful hilly landscapes dotted with emerald green lakes. This little Florida paradise is simply a great place to raise a family!

If you think this sunny Clermont Florida paradise is for you, you’ll need to find professional help from real estate agents in Clermont FL , they will assure you to get the best real estate experience. Your new real estate agent will help you find the house that’s best for you, as quickly and as cheaply as possible.

Florida is a great place to set up shop and put down roots. With all the things Florida has to offer, what more could you want? Whatever city you choose to settle down in, there’s no doubt that your new home will be perfect for raising your family!

Boca Raton

The city of Boca Raton is the last (but certainly not least) entry on our list; with it’s sunny, laid back vibe and exceptionally low violent crime rates it’s not hard to see why it’s included here. There are plenty of reasons why Boca Raton is a great place to raise a family; so let’s get into it, shall we?

For starters, take its close proximity to the beach. When you live in Boca Raton, you can visit the beach every day. With a couple trips to the beach every week, your kids will stay happy and healthy while you sit back in an armchair and simply watch them frolic in the surf and build sandcastles on the shore.

Then of course, a more practical bonus; Boca Raton has a violent crime rate of almost half that in the rest of the United States. With a well funded and well trained police force and excellent community security programs, the chances of you or one of your family members falling victim to a violent crime are virtually nil.

Boca Raton also has a great academic community, with excellent schools and close proximity to the excellent University of Miami. If you are looking for a place where your kids can grow and develop their educational opportunities by getting good grades and learning a variety of useful skills, look no further than Boca Raton.

Once your kids have graduated from one of Boca Raton’s excellent high schools, they’ll be within commuting distance of the prestigious University of Miami. UM is a great school, with a wide variety of courses and specializations, so they’ll have no trouble finding a major to suit them. As an added bonus, the University of Miami has several highly acclaimed sports teams, so if your pride and joy is a football, baseball or basketball protegee, they’ll have the opportunity to compete at the state and national levels.

If you are interested in buying a home in the area, you’ll need to contact one of the realtors in Boca Raton FL. Once you’ve found your dream real estate agent, you’ll be well on your way to making your home in one of the best places to raise a family in one of Florida’s most family friendly cities!
